Q4 Week 7: Find Your Support System
Finding the people who will keep you accountable and motivated
Welcome to week 7 of quarter 4! Can you believe we’re here? You’ve got a timeline, you’ve mapped your challenges, and you’re building something that’s a very big deal. But you can’t do this alone and you shouldn’t have to!
Last week, we identified how things might go off the rails (daddy Meg is here to help). We identified your challenges and created actual plans for when things get weird.
This week, we’re finding your support system! The people around you can make or break your entire journey, so this week we’re building an intentional network of people who hold you accountable, cheer you on, call you out, and celebrate your exciting wins along the way!
All-you-can-eat, but make it support
Okay so imagine your support system is like an all-you-can-eat buffet in the 90s (look up photos of this, get in the mood). You wouldn’t go to one of those and only eat the mac and cheese, right? I mean you could but then you’d be missing out on the pile of waffles, the iceberg salad bar, crystal dishes of neon Jello, the soft serve machine, all of it!
Your support system is the same way. You can’t have just ONE person who does everything. That’s too much pressure on them and not enough variety for you! You need different people for different situations, different vibes for different moments.
The accountability buddy! This person checks in on your progress and doesn’t let you make excuses. They text you “Did you do the thing?” and they actually want an honest answer!
The cheerleader! This person thinks everything you do is amazing (even when you’re just doing an okay job). They celebrate your tiny wins like you just won an Oscar! You send them a screenshot of literally anything and they respond with twelve exclamation points!
The reality checker! This friend loves you enough to say “Babes, that idea doesn’t align with your values innit” (they’re British I guess) when you need to hear it. They’re not mean, they’re just honest. They keep you from spiraling into weird decision-making when you’re tired!
The been-there-done-that mentor! Someone who’s already done something similar to what you’re attempting. They can spot the potholes before you drive into them!
The peer on the same path! Another person who’s also figuring it out in real time. You can text them at 2am like “Is this normal?” and they’re like “Oh my god YES I was just thinking the same thing!”
You need ALL of these (and probably more)! Because trying to get all your nutrition from mac and cheese isn’t going to cut it. Sure, it’s technically possible to only get the m&c but you’re gonna have some nutritional deficiencies!
